The preseason polls picked the Kentucky #1,
Arizona #2, Wisconsin #3, Duke #4, Kansas #5,
North Carolina #6, Florida #7, Louisville #8,
Virginia #9, and Texas #10. Seven of these
teams would be included in the season's
final top 10 ranking. Duke (35-4), a NCAA 1
seed would cut down the nets in the Championship game. In the Final Four, they cruised by Michigan State (81-61), and then Wisconsin, who had stopped Kentucky's 38 game winning streak, (68-63), to win their 5th championship. In the final Coaches Poll the Badgers would rank #2, Kentucky #3, and Michigan State #7. The other 2015 Coaches Poll Top 10 teams were: #5 Notre Dame (32-6), #4 Arizona (34-4), #6 Gongaza (35-3), #8 Virginia (30-4), #9 Villanova (33-3), and #10 Louisville (27-9. The major conferences received 37 of
the 68 NCAA bids. The American Conference teams were: Cincinnati, and SMU. ACC teams included: Duke, Louisville, NC State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, and Virginia. Big Ten teams included Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State, Ohio State, Purdue, and Wisconsin. The Big 12 was represented Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas,
and West Virginia. The Big East teams are: Butler, Georgetown, Providence, St. John's,
Villanova, and Xavier. The PAC 12 teams are: Arizona, Oregon, UCLA, and Utah. The SEC teams were: Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky,
LSU, and Ole Miss. Mid-Major Gonzaga (34-4) reached the Elite 8, Wichita State (30-5) made it to the Sweet 16. The NIT’s Championship game ended in overtime with Stanford (24-13) just barely squeaking by Miami (FL) (25-13)
by 66-64. Evansville (24-12) won the CIT title beating Northern Arizona (23-15). In the CBI, Loyola-Chicago (24-13) turned back UL-Monroe twice to win the best of a 3-game series. In total, 148 mens schools received a post season tournament bid. Connecticut’s women (38-1), bested Notre Dame (36-3), 63-53 to win their 10th women's Championship. The other Final Four teams were South Carolina(34-3) and Maryland (34-3). The women’s Elite 8 teams are: Baylor (33-4), Tennessee 30-6),
Florida State (32-5),and Dayton 28-7).
