National Championship by topping a
very scrappy Michigan State, 31-7,
team. Connecticut’s Huskies, 31-5, and
Louisville’s Cardinals, 31-6, also got
to the big dance. In addition to
the Final Four teams, seven
other schools also posted 30 or
more wins. They are: Memphis, 33-4, Missouri, 31-7, Pittsburgh, 31-5, Duke,
30-7, Oklahoma, 30-6, Villanova, 30-8, and Utah State, 30-5.Other Coaches Poll Top 20 schools include: Kansas, 27-8, Syracuse, 28-10, Gongaza, 28-6, Purdue, 27-10,
Xavier, 27-8,Washington, 26-9, LSU, 27-8, UCLA, 26-9, Arizona State, 25-10, and
Wake Forest, 24-7.Marquette, 25-10,
Florida State, 25-10,Texas, 23-12,
Arizona, 21-14, and Butler close out t
he top 25. Penn State, 27-11, had a great year. Top 2009 Mid-Majors schools
included Siena, 27-8, Dayton, 27-8,
Western Kentucky’s Hilltoppers, 25-9,
Saint Mary’s (CA), 28-7, Cleveland
State, 26-11, and Utah, 24-9. Lowly
NJIT, 1-30, finally won a game.
The Connecticut Lady Huskies, 39-0, defeated Louisville, 34-5, to win another National Championship. Stanford, 33-5, and Oklahoma, 32-5, also earned the trip the
Women’s Final Four. Maryland, 31-5,
Purdue, 25-11, Arizona State, 26-9, and
Iowa State, 27-9, were Elite 8 teams.
